Everyone knows that Arizona brand tea taste so good. That is why they get away with charging $1.00-$1.50 per can. Some of us buy it by the case or the gallon (You know who you are.) Some of their teas use artificial sweeteners and flavors in order to achieve that yummy taste. Not to mention that one can of it a day can cost you $30-$45 month. I have to admit, the Arizona can is nicely decorated and their amber colored bottles are pretty cool looking as well. Arizona’s 23.5 ounce cans tower over of the standard can of soda, almost as if it were saying, “Look at me, I am bigger and better than you.” There are a wide variety of flavor that you can make yourself at a fraction of the cost very quickly. I decided to start with the classic Sweet Tea Lemon. Even though you may feel that towering can of tea is designed for one, it actually consist of approximately 3 servings. Be mindful when you are guzzling down 3 serving worth of Arizona Tea at 3pm at work, that most of their varieties are caffeinated and likely explains why you have trouble falling asleep at night. I decide to make my comparable version using decaf tea bags, so we can enjoy the teas deliciousness throughout the day and still sleep at night. Lets make it!!
1. Boil two cups of water
2. Pour the hot water over the 4 tea bags and allow them to brew for 5-10 minutes
3. In a pitcher add the brewed tea, the remaining 4 cups of water, lemon juice and sugar. Mix thoroughly.
4. Refrigerate and enjoy!
Wanna talk about the cost breakdown?
We used 40 cents worth of tea bags, filtered water was free, 12 cents worth of sugar, and cents 8 worth of lemon juice. That comes out to only 60cents for 6 servings versus (10 cents per serving). 6 Serving of Arizona Tea would have cost $2-3 dollars. We see a savings of 70%-80%. In a months time that is $21-$36 saved. Talk about a money saver!! Happy Savings!!
