Wellness Wednesday: Mental Catharsis Clearing out your Mind

The Holiday season is upon us and it can be stressful. Plenty of family gatherings will be smiles laced with disappoints and hurt. Although your can’t for someone else to resolve their issue, you can however working resolving your own. Mental catharsis is the process of purging your mind of emotions that you may find stressful. There are often times in which we are in situations in which we may not have gotten the opportunity to truly vent our feelings, whether its out of shyness or just remaining silent to keep the peace for the sake of everyone else. However bottling our feelings can result in physical manifestations like loss of sleeps, stomach ulcers, sore muscles, headaches and so much more. Part of maintaining our physical well-being is maintaining our mental wellness. Writing down a list of the hurts that you have chronicled at the forefront of your mind onto a sheet a paper can be a very cathartic way to release yourself from them. Another step that is also beneficial is to take that same list and to trash it.  The symbolic process is a way of purging your mind of that hurt, and hence benefiting your body. This is not a replacement for seeking professional help, however you may find it to be very beneficial.
